Midwifery Student Skills Day
A full day of hands-on clinical training designed to help midwifery students build confidence and competency in foundational birth skills — all in one focused, small-group setting.
Morning: Core Clinical Skills We'll start with the essentials — hand hygiene, gloving and ungloving technique, vital signs and fetal heart tones, OSHA standards, O2 placement and set up, instrument identification and sterilization, and medication administration via IM and SubQ injections from ampules and vials.
Afternoon: IV Access & Phlebotomy The afternoon shifts to vascular access skills, covering peripheral IV placement, saline lock placement, venipuncture, and blood collection for common birth-related labs.
Eligibility: Open to students currently enrolled in a MEAC-accredited program or working with a NARM-approved preceptor in Phase 2 or above.
NARM preceptor signatures available — bring your own documents.
Supplies and equipment provided. Please bring your own stethoscope and manual blood pressure cuff to practice with.
